GO EV GO
Smart reminders for your Tesla
- Provides reminders to manage your Tesla:
- Plug-in to charge
- Battery management (time for a full 100% charge)
- Mileage-based reminders (eg: Road User Charges in NZ)
- If there are any others you would like, let us know at hello@goevgo.app
How it works
- Sign in with your Tesla account and authorise access to your vehicle — the app securely connects your vehicle to our system.
- Set up reminders:
- Plug-in reminders: a daily reminder at a specific time (e.g., 8:00 PM) or automatically if you have scheduled charging times set in your car.
- Battery management reminders: monitor your battery usage and time since you've completed a 100% charge and set reminders to help optimise battery life.
- Mileage reminders: a reminder when you hit a specific odometer reading, or advance warning before you reach a target mileage.
- Get notified only when it matters — the app checks if a reminder is actually needed before sending. For example, it skips a reminder if your car is already plugged in or charged to your charge limit. Or if you're still driving when a reminder is due, it waits until you park and then checks again.
- See your car's charge status at a glance — battery level, charge limit, plug status, and last full charge.
What makes it different
- No “vampire” drain — the app never wakes your car. All data is streamed from the vehicle using Tesla’s “Fleet Telemetry” technology only when it's already awake.
- No unnecessary notifications — you only hear from the app when you actually need to do something.
- Privacy-first — no personal information is stored. No location or driving data is collected, with opt-in odometer history only if you want to enable mileage estimates. You can view our privacy policy below, and in the app before you choose to sign in.
How beta testing works
- Currently, we only support iPhone. An Android version is planned.
- The app isn’t publicly available in the App Store yet, so installing is done via Apple’s beta testing app called TestFlight.
- The link below will help you get TestFlight up and running and install GO EV GO.
- Please remember that the point of beta testing is to uncover bugs and issues before releasing the app to the public.
- We test internally to try and make it work as smoothly as possible before it gets to you, but please expect a few issues we haven’t come across yet.
- Please send feedback when things don’t go quite as you expect them.
- Use the in-app support chat feature, or look for the “Submit Feedback” button in TestFlight (under GO EV GO), or email hello@goevgo.app directly.
- You have the option to stay anonymous when providing feedback both in the app and in TestFlight.
Privacy
GO EV GO is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect the minimum data necessary to deliver smart charge reminders and nothing more.
How Signing In Works
When you sign in, the app opens Tesla's official web page window where you enter your Tesla password. Your password goes directly to Tesla — GO EV GO never captures, reads, or stores it. In return, Tesla gives the app a limited authorisation (an access token, not your password) that can only read data and can never control your vehicle. You can revoke this access at any time from the Tesla app or your Tesla Account — see Tesla's guide on managing access with third-party apps.
What We Collect
- Tesla account link — When you sign in with Tesla, we receive authorisation (an OAuth token) to connect to your Tesla account. For security, we encrypt this token (using AES-256-GCM). After signing in, you need to authorise a data connection with your vehicle. This sets up a separate cryptographic key (what Tesla calls a 'virtual key' — read more on the Tesla website here) used solely to receive real-time vehicle data. We do not request the permissions to execute commands on your vehicle. We also store your region because it's needed to connect to the correct Tesla server.
- Vehicle identifiers — Your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is used to identify your vehicle in all communication with Tesla. We store it encrypted (using the same AES-256-GCM encryption as your Tesla token) and also store a scrambled version (one-way hash) for matching incoming telemetry data. We also store your vehicle model, name, and battery information.
- Vehicle telemetry — We receive real-time updates from your vehicle so we know when to send reminders, including charge-related data (battery level, charge limit, charge state, and any scheduled charging configuration) and odometer reading, plus the gear your vehicle is in (parked, drive, reverse, or neutral) so we can determine if you're driving or parked. Only the current state is stored, with new data overwriting the previous. If you opt in to odometer history in the app, we additionally store odometer readings over time to help make timing estimates for mileage reminders. This is off by default, and if you turn it on, it can be turned off again at any time, which also deletes any stored historical data. All odometer readings are low resolution, updated approximately every 12 hours or 50km. No other telemetry information is collected and we do not access location, driving history, or any other vehicle data. From time to time, we may temporarily log data history if we are trying to debug or fix an issue.
- Device token and device details — When you enable push notifications, we store the details necessary to deliver notifications (your APNs device token), along with basic information about each device you use to sign in: the app version and build, the operating system version, and the device model and family (e.g. "iPhone16,2", "iPhone"). This helps us deliver notifications correctly and assist you with support enquiries. No personal device names or identifiers are collected.
What We Do NOT Collect
- No personally identifiable information (name, email, phone number, or address)
- No location or GPS data
- No driving history or trip data
- No vehicle diagnostics beyond charge related information
Zero Vampire Drain
GO EV GO never wakes your vehicle. All vehicle data is received passively through Tesla Fleet Telemetry, a push-based system. Your vehicle's battery is never affected by this app.
Read-Only Access
GO EV GO only receives data from your vehicle. We cannot send any commands to it — we cannot lock or unlock it, start or stop charging, change charge limits, or control any vehicle function. Our Tesla authorisation is limited to reading charge and telemetry data.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to any third party. Your data is used exclusively for the services delivered by this app.
Data Retention
If you delete your account, your push notification tokens and active sessions are removed immediately, and your account is signed out and inert. If no other GO EV GO user is also linked to the same vehicle, we then ask Tesla to disconnect the data link from your vehicle. Once Tesla confirms this, all remaining associated data — including encrypted Tesla tokens, vehicle identifiers, and reminders — is permanently deleted.
